Vasectomy

Vasectomy is one of the safest and most effective methods of male sterilization. Unlike sterilization procedures for women, vasectomy can be performed in the office, making it significantly less expensive. Because vasectomy simply interrupts the transport of sperm through the vas deferens, it does NOT affect a man's hormonal status and does NOT impact his libido or sexual function. Unfortunately, vasectomy is infrequently used and women are more likely to undergo surgery than their male partners. Why? Some people blame men's lack of awareness or just apathy, but we believe that if given all the information, men might actually be more willing to have a vasectomy; the problem though, is access. Where they would go to get it? Are there enough doctors out there who're available to provide vasectomies when men want them? Our surveys of local family planning clinics helps to answer this question.
