Men & Abortion

While some people may believe that men are ignorant, uninvolved, lazy, or selfish when it comes to abortion, these stereotypes may not reflect the beliefs and behaviors of all men. Men are invested in the outcome of unintended pregnancies and  how that may impact their relationship(s). Our research indicates that men value their relationships with women, sometimes beyond their beliefs about abortion, such that they generally want to be present for the abortion in solidarity with their partner and want to provide support in numerous ways. Male partners can have a positive impact on women's abortion experiences; we may just need to show them how.
